Chisinau hosts Moldovan-Russian inter-ministerial consultations

Chisinau, 29 March /MOLDPRES/ - A new round of Moldovan-Russian inter-ministerial political consultations between deputy ministers took place in Chisinau today. The Moldovan delegation was led by Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii, and the Russian one – by State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The sides considered the entire spectrum of issues of the Moldovan-Russian bilateral relations, in particular, promotion of the political dialogue, prospects of cooperation in the trade and economic sector, interaction in the cultural and humanitarian field, strengthening the legal framework of cooperation between the two states.
The sides highlighted the need to maintain a constructive dialogue at different levels, in order to identify mutually advantageous solutions to problems on the bilateral agenda. In this context, the officials stressed the importance of resuming the inter-parliamentary collaboration.
The sides exchanged opinions on the Transnistrian conflict settlement process. They spoke out for re-launching the five-plus-two meetings as soon as possible. In this context, the interlocutors emphasized the significance of further promoting the direct dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol and the activity of the working groups to carry out confidence building measures. The Moldovan side reiterated its stance on the need of evacuation and use of stocks of ammunition from Colbasna, retreating of the Russian troops from Moldova’s territory, as well as turning the peacekeeping operation into a civilian mission with relevant international mandate.
