Moldovan PM assesses current stage of carrying out roadmap, national plan on implementing Association Agreement

Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/- The developments in implementing the roadmap on priority reforms and arrears in carrying out the National Plan on Implementing the Association Agreement were the main issues on the agenda of a 30 March meeting of the governmental commission for European integration, chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The State Chancellery, National Bank of Moldova (BNM) and National Agency for Food Safety reported on the level of carrying out the actions they are in charge of, especially those planned for March.

The commission heard the report presented by government’s Secretary General Tudor Copaci on measures taken to implement the public administration reform. Copaci stressed the importance to speed up the adoption of the strategy of reforming the public administration. The participants in the meeting also discussed problems existing in terms of capacity of the National Agency for Food Safety to efficiently manage the testing of animal products for export to EU.

As for achievements, the Commission members highlighted the starting of the work of the national council for public administration reform and as regards the banking dimension, the elaboration of the action plan on implementing recommendations of the Financial Sector Assessment Programme (FSAP).

The prime minister pointed out the need to maintain the pace for fulfilling the commitments taken, and demanded presentation of the results for the first quarter of 2016, as well as the 2014-2015 arrears at the next meeting. Also, Filip asked the Economics Ministry to come up with a report on implementation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA).

The next meeting of the governmental commission for European integration will take place on 6 April.
