Moldova interested in increase of Czech investments in national economy

Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova is interested in the increase of Czech investments in its national economy. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu made a statement to this effect at a today’s meeting with Czech Industry and Trade Minister Jan Mladek, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.     

The officials discussed opportunities of boosting the Moldovan-Czech bilateral commerce, benefits of Moldova’s economic integration with the European Union, respectively, the advantages of the creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) with EU.  

Andrian Candu and Jan Mládek considered the economic situation in Moldova, regional context and measures undertaken by the authorities, in order to connect the energy networks to the European ones, which represents a priority for Moldova.  

Andrian Candu thanked the Czech authorities for Moldova’s inclusion in the list of countries of interest for exports and investments, under the Czech Republic’s  Strategy of export’s promotion for 2012-2020, worked out by the Czech Industry and Trade Ministry.  

The parliament speaker stressed Moldova’s interest in the increase of Czech investments, including in the energy infrastructure field, taking into account that the Czech Republic was an example in the region in terms of diversifying energy sources. In this context, Jan Mladek referred to the experience and possibility for the Czech business to participate in projects on transport infrastructure and stocking of natural gas in Moldova, as well as improving the electric energy infrastructure.   

Andrian Candu also referred to Moldovan authorities’ efforts to improve the conditions for business, especially as regards the simplification of the interaction between business and state’s institutions, as well as the advantages offered by free economic zones to foreign investors.   

According to Czech Industry and Trade Minister Jan Mladek, Moldova has managed to get free commerce with EU in a quite opportune moment, against the background of the challenges and present situation in the European area. “The products from Moldova, especially wines, have managed to occupy an important place on the wine market of the Czech Republic and there is potential of growth. The Moldovan wine is good and has personality,” the Czech official said. He urged the Moldovan producers to ensure the quality of Moldovan wines during time. In this context, Jan Mladek also touched upon opportunities of increase in trade exchanges with Moldova, including in the automotive industry and wine sectors.        

The parliament speaker also said that the establishment of the preferential trade regime with the European Union would bring long-term stability for Moldova. At the same time, the carrying out of the roadmap, recently signed by the parliament and cabinet, will help ensure financial stability of Moldova and advancing the cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, that will give an impetus to developing new projects in Moldova.     

Andrian Candu ends his working visit to the Czech Republic today. During two days, the parliament speaker had meetings with Czech Senate President Milan Štěch, the head of the external affairs committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Karel Schwarzenberg.
