Moldovan deputy premier, Hungarian ambassador tackle bilateral ties, Transnistrian settlement

Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan today had a meeting with Hungarian Ambassador to Moldova Matyas Szilagyi, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The ambassador reiterated Hungary’s support for the sovereignty and integrity of Moldova, as well as for its European aspirations.
The two officials had a constructive dialogue, focused on the Moldovan-Hungarian relations, Transnistria-related issues and prospects for the bilateral cooperation in this framework.
Referring to the Transnistrian settlement process, the deputy prime minister informed the diplomat on the results of a meeting of the governmental commission for Moldova’s reintegration from 1 March, meetings with the political representative in the process of negotiations for Transnistrian settlement on behalf of Tiraspol, forthcoming visit by representatives in the 3+2 format to Chisinau and Tiraspol, continuing the five-plus-two talks and impetuses given to boost the activity of the sectoral working meetings.
Gheorghe Balan noted that the government had taken responsibility to back and defend the interests of the residents from the eastern districts, by extending the single spaces in the region and promoting measures to consolidate confidence between residents of the two banks of Dniester.
In this context, the deputy prime minister highlighted a string of positive actions undertaken by the Moldovan government to ensure a better living for the citizens from the left bank of Dniester. Among them, there are also practical measures to support the business community from the region, meant to create friendly conditions for enterprises to carry out the foreign trade activity, in line with the provisions of the national legislation in force and international commitments Moldova is party to.
For his part, Matyas Szilagyi appreciated the initiatives by the deputy prime minister for reintegration, as well as the actions taken to bolster the Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue, including the resumption of the activity of the sectoral working groups. According to the diplomat, these groups will positively contribute to efficiently continuing the five-plus-two talks.
At the same time, the ambassador informed about projects carried out with the support of the Hungarian cabinet in Moldovan eastern districts. Matyas Szilagyi gave assurances that the Hungarian side would implement new projects in the fields of culture, tourism, agriculture, etc. on both banks of Dniester.
