Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/ - A team of NATO experts assesses the partnership goals assumed by Moldova within the Partnership for Peace Planning and Review Process (PARP).
A representative of the NATO Defence Policy and Planning Division, Andrew Cullen, PARP official in charge of Moldova, has said that an important aspect of the Partnership for Peace Planning and Review Process was a correct establishment and formulation of objectives, as they represent a benchmark for developing a roadmap and must meet the reality from Moldova. “We are here in order to continue the process of planning and revise the results, with the exact goals of the PARP process being development by the partner countries of inter-operable forces for participating in NATO, EU and UN operations, and Moldova, in this respect, is an example through substantial contribution to the KFOR operations from Kosovo and other missions,” Andrew Cullen said.
The NATO official stressed that another aspect of the evaluations regarded the reform of the Armed Forces and other institutions of the security and defence sector. For Moldova, this means implementation of the Defence Capacity Building Initiative.
The Partnership for Peace Planning and Review Process is a methodology of planning the defence, elaborated by the North Atlantic Alliance for partners, on the basis of the system of defence planning used in all the western countries at present.
The group of experts, led by the head of the NATO Defence Policy and Planning Division, Paul Savereux, has scheduled meetings with representatives of the Defence Ministry, Foreign and European Integration Ministry, Security and Intelligence Service, Finance Ministry, Border Police and Carabineer Troops Department, to analyze the achievements and deficiencies in implementing PARP.
Moldova joined PARP in 1997.
