Moldovan-Turkish political consultations held in Ankara

Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii held a new round of inter-ministerial political consultations with Deputy Undersecretary of State at the Turkish Foreign Ministry Ali Kemal Aydin, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The officials exchanged opinions on up-to-date issues on the agenda of the Moldovan-Turkish bilateral relations, in particular, promotion of the political dialogue and developing cooperation in fields of common interest. The sides also approached aspects concerning the international situation and the interaction between the two countries within regional cooperation organisations in the Black Sea zone.
The two officials praised the positive dynamic of the cooperation between Moldova and Turkey. They reiterated mutual interest in continuing the political dialogue at different levels and boosting the commercial and economic exchanges, as well as strengthening the cultural and humanitarian ties. In this context, Lilian Darii and Ali Kemal Aydin highlighted the new opportunities created by the free trade agreement between Moldova and Turkey, recently ratified by the Moldovan parliament, which is to be also ratified by the parliament of Turkey in the near future. The sides spoke out for the organisation of the next meeting of the Moldovan-Turkish intergovernmental commission for commercial and economic cooperation will late 2016.
Deputy Minister Lilian Darii stressed the valuable contribution of Turkish investors in Moldova’s economy, especially in the infrastructure sector, constructions and hotel industry. At the same time, he spoke out for the attraction of new Turkish investments in Moldova.
For his part, Deputy Undersecretary of State at the Turkish Foreign Ministry Ali Kemal Aydin highly appreciated the policy of the Moldovan authorities in relations with the Autonomous Territorial and Administrative Unit of Gagauzia. He reiterated Turkey’s willingness to further support Moldova’s pro-European course and the policy of reforms for the country’s modernisation.
During his visit to Ankara, Deputy Minister Lilian Darii also had a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey Ali Naci Koru, within which the sides tackled subjects on prospects of the Moldovan-Turkish relations.
