Economic council of prime minister of Moldova has new composition

Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today signed an instruction on the nomination of a new composition of the Economic Council. Thus, 59 members: ministers, entrepreneurs, representatives of the public authorities and donors’ community created topic-related working groups, just how the prime minister has recently proposed, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The council will act to back entrepreneurs’ work, will focus on removing the principal constraints on the development of the private sector and will contribute to Moldova’s economic growth.
The new composition of the Economic Council is made up of the Secretary General of the State Chancellery, eight ministers (Economics Minister, Finance Minister , Agriculture and Food Industry Minister, Regional Development and Constructions Minister, Health Minister, Justice Minister, Environment Minister and Labour, Social Protection and Family Minister), representatives of international organisations and institutions (United States Agency for International Development (USAID), United Nations Development Programme, Swedish Embassy, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, World Bank, European Union Delegation to Moldova, Embassy of the United Kingdom, etc.), as well as representatives of the central public authorities.
Moreover, three topic-related working groups were set up to fulfill the duties and more efficiently carry out the Council’s activities. The groups will signal and discuss obstacles to the business environment at meetings.
The Council’s secretariat will ensure efficient communication between representatives of the private and public sectors in the process of activity of the working groups created and will ensure needed support in promoting the identified initiatives.
The Economic Council of Prime Minister of Moldova promotes dialogue between the public and private sectors, in order to improve the business environment, contributing to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and enhancing the degree of competition on the Moldovan market.
The Council is set to remove all principal constraints on the development of the private sector, ensure a clear-cut, functional, nondiscriminatory and transparent regulation framework, improve the quality of public services for the business environment, reduce bureaucracy and minimize the corruption risk.
The Economic Council of the Prime Minister was set up in December 2012, with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
