German Agency for International Cooperation to implement new project in Moldova

Chisinau, 13 April /MOLDPRES/-The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) will implement the “Government Advice on Economic Development” project in the next two years. The concept of the new project, which accounts for 2.8 million euros, was unveiled to Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic by the head of GIZ Moldova team, Ronny Bechmann today.
According to the Economics Ministry’s press service, Bechmann said the new project would advise the prime minister’s cabinet and other governmental authorities in charge of promoting investments, such as the parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finances, State Chancellery, Economics Ministry and Moldova Investment and Export Promotion Organization (MIEPO). The project will also back the implementation of the national strategy for drawing investments and promoting exports in 2016-2020.
“To this effect, the project will sign a contract with a consulting company, in charge of providing assistance depending on the type of the activity developed,” Bechmann emphasized.
Calmic said this project was very important for Moldovan authorities, as it would contribute to Moldova’s sustainable economic development, improve its economic climate and draw foreign investments into all of the national economy’s sectors.
The Moldovan official noted that national authorities were interested in starting some projects to update the road map providing for the enhancement of Moldova’s competitiveness, carrying out a re-industrialization programme for Moldova, as well as in taking joint actions to promote missions of business people, exchange of experience and sector market studies.
The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) is currently implementing six projects, accounting for 14.4 million euros, in Moldova.
