Chisinau, 13 April /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip asked authorities to take action and ensure the safety of Moldovan citizens, as well as to carry out the necessary controls to eliminate persistent hazards, the government’s communication and press relations department has reported.
Touching upon the intoxication case in Cahul district, which took the life of a four-year old child and caused the hospitalization in the intensive care department of an adult in severe condition and another six-year old child, as well as referring to the death at birth of a baby at the maternity hospital in Straseni district, Filip noted that authorities must take all the necessary measures to make sure such situations will never again happen in Moldova.
“Of course, these cases are being investigated and there are commissions that promise us to come up with conclusions in time. However, it is not enough. We should remember that a similar case happened in Cahul district in December 2015. And we should also recall the intoxication of pupils in a school from Rezina district. So, what were the final conclusions and what measures were taken to prevent similar cases from happening? Do we know the people guilty of these cases and were these people held accountable?” the prime minister emphasized.
In this context, Filip reminded about the need to carry out a strict control on the use of insecticides and pesticides. He required the National Agency for Food Safety, Environment Ministry and the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry to verify the trade of such substances on the internal markets, inclusively in Chisinau.
“I want answers to my questions, along with the investigation and rough punishment of those who are guilty of these cases. Otherwise, you might be the ones to get punished, as you are in charge of this field. Because we shall take into account that the government is responsible for the situation in the country,” Filip said.
