Moldovan PM tackles developments in enforcing Association Agreement in transport, agriculture, intellectual property

Chisinau, 14 April /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip chaired a meeting of the governmental commission for European integration on 13 April. The participants in the meeting heard reports on developments in implementing commitments assumed in the context of implementing the Association Agreement in terms of transport, agriculture and protection of geographical indications, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Thus, the participants in the event discussed the actions due to be taken to optimize the carrying out of standards concerning the sea transport, including in the context of provisions of the Paris Memorandum on Port State Control.
In another context, the commission members considered the pace of transposition of European standards in agriculture, including creation of conditions necessary for a better promotion of Moldovan agricultural products on the EU market.
As for the intellectual property, according to the Moldovan Intellectual Property Protection Agency (AGEPI), this is a field in which progress is recorded in terms of implementation of the Association Agreement. At the same time, the participants in the meeting stressed the importance of speeding up the approval and enforcement of the legislative acts in the sector, including in the case of a draft on amending and completing the law on harmonizing the duration of protection of copyrights and related rights, approved at a 13 April government meeting.
