Moldovan-Romanian political consultations held in Bucharest

Chisinau, 14 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii held a new round of political consultations with State Secretary for Strategic Affairs at the Romanian Foreign Ministry Daniel Ionita in Bucharest today, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The sides tackled a wide spectrum of up-to-date issues on the agenda of the bilateral relations, with special attention paid to carrying out the agreements reached at recent high-level visits to Bucharest. Lilian Darii and Daniel Ionita discussed, in particular, ways of boosting the bilateral dialogue, increasing the trade and economic exchanges, implementing joint products in the energy and infrastructure sectors, strengthening the cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
The two officials highlighted the latest positive dynamic in developing the bilateral relations, based on the strategic partnership for Moldova’s European integration. At the same time, the sides confirmed mutual willingness to fully achieve the goals set in the concerned action plan, as well as within high-level meetings and joint meetings of the two governments.
Deputy Minister Darii informed about efforts undertaken by the Moldovan cabinet to implement the European reforms’ agenda, in line with the Association Agreement with the European Union and roadmap on priority directions of carrying out the transformations.
For his part, State Secretary Daniel Ionita reiterated Romania’s firm determination to encourage and back the policy of reforms in Moldova and of modernising the society, with a view of achieving the objectives set.
The two officials also approached aspects on Transnistrian conflict settlement and evolution of the security climate in the region. In this context, the Romanian diplomat confirmed Romania’s political will to support efforts aimed at identifying a political solution to the Transnistrian problem within the five-plus-two talks, by observing Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Also, Lilian Darii had meetings Delegate Minister for Relations with Romanians Abroad Dan Stoenescu and the Presidential Adviser for European Union Affairs Leonard Orban. The sides discussed prospects for developing the Moldova-Romanian relations.
