Moldovan deputy premier tackles present situation in Transnistrian conflict settlement

Chisinau, 15 April /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola on 14 April, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The talks were focused on the present situation in the Transnistrian conflict settlement, prospects for negotiations within the current dialogue platforms, as well as important subjects on the agenda of the Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue.
The deputy premier highlighted the positive results of a visit by representatives in the three-plus-two format to Chisinau and Tiraspol. He expressed confidence that the five-plus-two negotiations would continue in the near future.
At the same time, Balan informed about the fostering of the activity of the sectoral working groups, joint meetings held in April, as well as Chisinau’s vision on the settlement of the most pressing and up-to-date problems faced by people from both banks of Dniester.
In another context, the sides approached the need to consolidate the institutional capacities, in order to carry out policies on Moldova’s reintegration.
Balan thanked the EU Delegation to Moldova for the significant contribution to bolster the current platforms of negotiations and advance the dialogue in the settlement process.
Also, Ambassador Pirkka Tapiola appreciated the deputy prime minister’s activity and assured that the EU would further help boost the Transnistrian settlement process.
