Moldovan government launches action plan on memory, honor, respect

Chisinau, 16 April /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip today met Afghanistan war veterans from all the Moldovan districts, as well as representatives of the central and local public authorities, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The premier announced about the launch of an action plan, Memory. Honor. Respect, meant to represent one of the priorities of ruling team. Filip expressed respect and appreciation for veterans, noting that they represented landmark of morality and carriers of peace and stability in the country.

“We opted for a permanent and constructive dialogue with you, not only at occasional meetings and commemoration events. Therefore, I appointed Ion Coropcean as an advisor responsible for social protection and relations with veterans. At the same time, the action plan we launch today is an openness that the government does in the first 100 days of activity, and is meant to consolidate the cooperation with the institutions in charge of improving the situation of war veterans in Moldova”, he said.

The action plan has such goals as: restoring policies in the social and legal assistance of veterans, setting  sustainable partnership with the central and local public authorities to ensure the social protection of veterans, cultivating patriotic spirit in the educational institutions from the country.

For his part, the head of the Union of Afghan War Veterans, Mihail Mocan, thanked the premier for the care shown towards war veterans, and handed him the union’s emblem as a token of gratitude and respect.

At the same time, the talks were focused on the problems faced by the veterans, as well as ways for solving them. The premier asked the relevant institutions to note all wishes expressed by the veterans and to ensure the rights of war veterans in Moldova.
