Moldovan foreign minister meets Latvian, Georgian, Israeli officials

Chisinau, 17 April /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur met Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs and Georgian Defence Minister Tinatin Khidasheli on 16 April 2016. The meetings were held in the context of the 11th edition of GLOBSEC Security Forum, in Bratislava, Slovakia, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
Moldovan and Latvian counterparts tackled current matters on the bilateral agenda. The sides have also confirmed their mutual interest in continuing the political dialogue according to the agreed agenda and organizing a new meeting of the intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation in the near future. Rinkēvičs reiterated Latvia’s availability to further back the efforts of the Moldovan government to implement the reforms provided in the EU Association Agreement.
Both Galbur and Khidasheli voiced their mutual interest in promoting the Moldovan-Georgian inter-ministerial dialogue in the defense field and also in paying mutual visits and offering consultations.
The Moldovan official also held a meeting with the political director of the Israeli Foreign Minister, Alon Ushpiz. The sides broached ways to deepen the bilateral dialogue in the political and commercial-economic sectors. Ushpiz reconfirmed Israel’s availability to back sector reforms Moldova is currently enforcing. The officials also ascertained the need to boost up and consolidate Moldovan-Israeli bilateral ties, agreeing to advance the political dialogue, pay mutual high-level visits and enhance the bilateral legal framework. Both sides backed the initiative to create a joint commission for commercial-economic cooperation in 2016.
