Moldovan PM, British official discuss cabinet's agenda of reforms

Chisinau, 18 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Permanent Under-Secretary at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Head of the Diplomatic Service of the United Kingdom Simon McDonald discussed the present situation in Moldova, implementation of reforms in the process of Moldova’s European integration, as well as results achieved by the present cabinet at a meeting today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister said the government was determined to continue implementing the reforms and ensure stability in Moldova. “We have a string of commitments, taken jointly with the parliament of Moldova, aimed at enhancing the well-being of citizens and reforming the priority sectors, and the actions undertaken yield tangible results already,” the prime minister said.
Pavel Filip informed about the actions on improving the financial situation and increasing the state budget revenues, reformation of the Customs Service and Fiscal Service, as well as on the adoption of draft laws on prosecution, integrity and enhancing the independence of the National Bank of Moldova and National Financial Market Commission.
For his part, Simon McDonald stressed that the international community was keeping a close eye on the developments and reforms carried out in Moldova and appreciated the progress recorded.
At the same time, the sides tackled the subject on Transnistrian problem and ensuring good conditions for the citizens from this region. In this respect, the prime minister reiterated the stance of the government on the conflict’s settlement exclusively by peaceful means, within the five-plus-two negotiations. In this context, Filip said that, for this year, the priorities set referred to the registration of vehicles from Moldova’s Transnistrian region and their international circulation, recognition of graduation diplomas issued by the education institutions from the left bank of Dniester and ensuring interconnection of fixed telephony networks.
