Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/- Only two specialised prosecutor's offices will operate in Moldova, instead of the earlier nine ones. The amendment is made in accordance with a new law on Prosecution, which will enter into force on 1 August, the Prosecutor’s General Office reported today.
Under the document, it is about the Prosecutor's for Combating Organised Crime and Special Causes, due to be set up, and the present Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office. “The two institutions will be headed by a chief prosecutor, equivalent to the Deputy Prosecutor General and will exercise the duties throughout the country."
Another innovation in the work of specialized prosecutor's offices will be detaching of officers of other law institutions to these offices, due to be subordinated to the institution’s chief prosecutor.
“Criminal investigators, investigative officers and specialists will be detached from other institutions for a period of up to five years. They are to be selected individually by the chief prosecutor of the specialized prosecutor’s office. The detaching will be carried out according to an order by the Prosecutor General, with the consent of the head of the institution where the person is working, and their payment will be made from the Prosecution’s budget”.
