Many employees of Chisinau city hall suspended from office

Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has ordered to suspend from office 20 people of the education, youth and sport department involved in delivering perished foods to schools and kindergartens in Chisinau.

“It is about the head of the education, youth and sport department, Tatiana Nagnibeda Tverdohleb, deputy heads of department, accountants, heads of acquisitions and other employees, who are involved in rigging public tenders on providing schools and kindergartens with food products, as well as delivering perished products to the kindergartens. If the guilt of some employees is not proved, they will have the possibility to go back to their positions,” Chirtoaca said.

Also, Chirtoaca noted that an investigation commission had been created within the city hall, in charge of verifying the activity of all departments, and a report on the matter would be presented on 19 December.

A group of parents protested in front of the city hall against corruption in the educational institutions and inefficiency of municipal authorities to fight with this phenomenon.

Last week, the National Anticorruption Centre and Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office detained 16 persons in a case on rigging public tenders on providing schools and kindergartens with food products, as well as delivering perished products to the kindergartens in Chisinau. Among them are nine employees of the education, youth and sport department of the city hall.
