Moldovan government to found state company to operate on medicine market

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ – A state company, MoldFarm, which is going to operate on pharmaceutical market will be established within two months, according to a decision taken at today meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

After the crisis of medicines registered in Moldova in autumn 2014 – winter 2015 "it was clear that there is an urgent need to take effective measures" to ensure "continuous flow of medicines and medical devices at reasonable prices for public medical institutions," mentioned the Health Ministry. During the crisis, some private operators, appointed as winners of public procurement procedures, have refused to fulfill their obligations under the contracts with medical institutions and did not deliver the contracted goods.

At the same time, during the public bidding procurement, some operators offer much higher prices for goods compared to those offered by manufacturers".

The new institution will be a limited company with a full state share will purchase drugs, and Para-cost producer devices. The founder statute will hold the Health Ministry. MoldFarm will be entitled to purchase, import, keep, store and sell medicines in the Republic of Moldova.
