Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in the beginning of a today’s cabinet meeting, demanded that the Health Ministry presents information on measures undertaken to prevent the flu and acute respiratory diseases in Moldova, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
“Our obligation is to prevent and prepare for this season; I speak about more frequent cases of falling ill with flu. At the same time, I mean the vaccines which had to be purchased in advance, to be able to cope with these challenges,” the prime minister said.
According to a report unveiled by Health Minister Ruxanda Glavan, the epidemiological situation in terms of flu and acute respiratory infections was permanently monitored by authorities. In Moldova, the first case of flue was confirmed on 18 November, and the last four ones – on 1 December. Internationally, the situation is also stable, under the epidemic threshold.
At the same time, as for the vaccines’ procurement process, Ruxanda Glavan said the vaccines were not included in the national plan for procurements, as they represent a need only when there are high risks of falling sick. A consignment of 200,000 vaccines will be given to Moldova as donation by a Chinese producer and it is to be brought to the country till later this week. At the same time, the authorities are prepared to start the process of vaccination beginning with the next week, in order to prevent the spread of these infections.
