Moldovan government considers efficiency of state expenses for covering damage caused by natural disasters

Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/- The Commission for Emergencies today held a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip. The participants in the event considered more issues related to earmarking financial means and issuing material goods from the state material reserves needed to liquidate the consequences of natural disasters that occurred during the year, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The commission members heard a report on checking the results of assessing damage caused by the natural disasters in the night of 18 to 19 June 2016, as a result, over one hundred settlements from 13 districts were affected. Under the information submitted by the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the materials have been used mostly according to the destination and distributed to the affected people. The commission found a lot of irregularities on the fact that the first-level local authorities have not followed the procedure to request material aid from the state, deficiencies in updating data were recorded.
Also, they considered requests on earmarking financial means for liquidation of consequences of natural disasters recorded during the year, including in Soroca, Floreşti, Leova, Ungheni and Edineţ districts, as well as the need to cover the expenses of the Material Reserves Agency and Civil Protection and Emergencies Service. The decisions are to be considered by the cabinet at one of the next meetings.
