Moldovan government allocates over 2.45 million lei for rehabilitation of political repressions victims

Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers decided at its meeting today, allocation of funds for payment of compensation to persons who were subjected to political repressions. Totally, it will be paid over 2.45 million lei for 16 beneficiaries in 10 localities, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
About 251 thousand lei of this amount will be transferred to the first installments to persons from districts Anenii Noi, Edinet and Criuleni, to whom compensation was established in 2016. Similarly, most of the amount, 1.93 million lei, single tranche will be paid to persons who reached the age of 75 years in six towns. Other 300 thousand lei will go to pay executive orders in Cahul and Chisinau.
Annually, the government pays compensation covering the amount confiscated, nationalized or taken in any way in possession of victims of political repressions. According to the legal framework, the compensation payment may be effected over a period of up to three years if the goods dispossessed are more than 200 thousand lei, and for a period of up to five years if the property value exceeds this amount.
In the state budget for 2017, there are provided funds amounting to 13 million lei for compensations to political victims. In 2016 for this purpose there were paid more than 13.6 million lei, and in 2015 – 20,7 million lei.
