Moldovan parliament to approve action plan for 2017 at first plenary meeting

Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/ – The first Parliament sitting on spring session 2017 will be held on Friday, 24 February. The decision was taken by the Standing Bureau of Parliament, which convened meeting today, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The Standing Bureau approved the plenary agenda for further two weeks.
During the first session, Parliament members will approve the Parliament's annual legislative plan for the implementation of the Association Agreement Moldova – European Union for 2017. The plan derives from the National Action Plan approved by the Government. The document was discussed in a joint public session Parliament – Government with the participation of chairmen of standing committees, which took place on 02 February 2017.
"To Parliament remains a priority for 2017, the realization of parliamentary control over the laws and reforms that had been launched last year and agreed with development partners. Reforms of banking system, energy sector, judiciary reform, fight against corruption, package integrity – all are of priority for Spring session 2017," said Parliament Speaker Adrian Candu.
The speaker announced that the Standing Bureau agreed to create a working group, composed of MPs from all parliamentary fractions, involving civil society and development partners, to consider proposals to improve electoral legislation, taking into account the recommendations of Constitutional Court, Commission of Venice, missions of international observers from the Council of Europe, EU and OSCE, as well as proposals from civil society. The first meeting could take place within the next two weeks.
The spring session of Parliament began on 01 February 2017.
