Social Democratic Platform lawmakers join Moldovan Democratic Party faction

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/- The 14 MPs who formed the Social Democratic Platform after leaving the Party of Communists decided to join the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), PDM leader Marian Lupu and MP Violeta Ivanov announced today.
“During the today’s meeting, we decided unanimously to accept the decision of colleagues from the Social Democratic Platform on 14 MPs’ accession to the PDM faction. It is a decision taken, an accomplished fact. I welcome this decision that was not easy but it was very responsible”, Lupu said.
He said “this step will lead to strengthening parliamentary majority, stability in parliament, support for government and for European modernization of the country by implementing the Association Agreement with EU, for consolidating sovereignty and statehood of Moldova”.
Ivanov announced the platform’s decision to join the PDM faction and back government and reforms. “We hope this parliamentary consensus will contribute to boosting efforts to promote national interests of Moldova, entire people and each citizen”.
The Democratic faction has 34 MPs starting from today and is the largest faction in parliament.
