Moldovan violence victims to benefit from free of charge phone assistance

Chisinau, 03 May /MOLDPRES/ – The Government approved at its today meeting the organization and operation rules of the Free Helpdesk for Victims of Domestic Violence and Violence against Women. The purpose of the Service is to prevent violence, as well as to provide assistance and protection to the victims of this abuse, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The services provided in the Regulation are aimed at stipulating psychological counseling on the phone, identifying victims of domestic violence and violence against women, informing them about their rights and supporting them in crisis situations. Also, the Service is intended for community members, aggressors (as secondary beneficiaries), as well as professionals in the field who will be able to expose their problems in case of assistance, with full confidentiality.

The service will hold a free phone number throughout Moldova, and it will be possible for 24 hours a day to be accessed from the fixed and mobile telephony by the beneficiaries from abroad. Similarly, the Service staff will be able to provide info to applicants including via e-mail or social networking.

The specialists will work by the Minimum Quality Standards, approved by the Executive, which regulates the process of providing services and staffing. As such, according to the document, six counselors, a manager and helping staff will work in the Free Helpdesk for Victims of Domestic Violence and Violence against Women.

As to ensure the Service efficient functioning, there were allocated 775.4 thousand lei from the financial means of the state budget for 2017.
