Moldovan, Slovenian officials broach cooperation, reforms

Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/- On 15-16 May, Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Morari pays a working visit to Ljubljana at an invitation of State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Darja Budvaž Kuret. The visit includes holding political consultations in European integration and bilateral meetings with Slovenian officials, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media relations service has reported.
On 15 May, a meeting with State Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior Boštjan Šefic was held and discussed the topic of cooperation in the field of internal affairs, especially, taking over the Slovenian experience in strengthening police capabilities, implementing Schengen standards, managing migration flows, preventing and combating crime, developing training capacities according to European standards and exchange of information.
The officials approached new initiatives within the EU-Moldova Mobility Partnership, cooperation in defense and security policy, consolidation of defense capabilities against hybrid threats, preventing and combating terrorism.
Also, Morari met the Head of the Police Cooperation Convention for Southeast Europe Secretariat, Ottavio Bottecchia. Morari reconfirmed Moldova’s commitment to achieve priorities under the Convention, such as initiation of negotiations on the Agreement and Protocol implementing data sharing and participation in the thematic groups.
The officials considered the opportunities that can be turned to good account as a result of ensuring effective exchange of information on fight against cross-border organized crime in South East Europe.
The Moldovan official thanked the interlocutors for their openness in offering expertise and support for implementing the reforms initiated in European integration process.
