Moldovan energy regulator informs about new cut in prices for petrol, diesel

Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/ - The petrol and diesel will cheapen by 4.7 per cent and, respectively, 4.1 per cent, after the prices for fuels had dropped by 2.6 and three percent on the previous period. The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) today set the ceiling selling price for the most demanded Premium-95 petrol at 16.90 lei per one litre and for diesel – at 14.40 lei per one litre for 16-30 May.
On the period before, the pump price for the Premium-95 petrol stood at 17.72 lei for one litre and for diesel – 15.01 per cent.
The new prices for petrol will enter into force at midnight, when operators will have no right to sell fuels by retail at higher prices than the ones established by ANRE. The prices posted on ANRE’s webpage today will be valid for 14 calendar days.
The oil price increased to the highest level of the last two weeks, after Saudi Arabia and the Russian energy minister had informed that they were speaking out for extending the programme of capping the production for another nine months, Bloomberg wrote on 15 May.
Futures grew by 2.8 per cent in New York, rising to the higher level of trading of the last two weeks. While the production started decreasing beginning with 1 January 2017, the global reserves are not at the level targeted by OPEC and its allies, according to Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia Khalid Al-Falih. On 15 May, the oil price went up by 3.49 per cent to 49.51 dollars per one barrel and the Brent quotation got closer to the level of 52 dollars per one barrel.
The OPEC ministers agreed that the capping should be extended till the first quarter of 2018, at the same volume of production’s reduction.
