Moldovan cabinet approves action plan on developing domestic trade for 2017-2018

Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved an action plan for 2017-2018 on the implementation of the Strategy of development of the domestic trade. The action plan for the first phase of the document’s carrying out expired in late 2016.
According to preliminary reports, the actions scheduled for the previous period have been fulfilled at a level of 80 per cent of all the 36 actions planned, of which 24 are under implementation. The Economics Ministry said that 17 actions had a permanent character. On the other hand, some of them, such the draft on organization of commerce in public areas, including in markets, working out of the decision on the providing of commercial services “proved to be inopportune.”
At the same time, on financial grounds, decision-makers have not managed to work out the trader’s guide, as well as to provide assistance to set up a agro-food centre at the national, as well as at the regional levels.
The draft sees aligning with the European standards in the sector, revising the legislation on consumers’ protection, ensuring inoffensiveness and the quality of goods, managing the quick System of alert for food products and feed, organization of fairs and exhibitions, as well as other actions.
The action plan for 2017-2018 includes new measures, aimed at achieving the goals of the Strategy, which regard the improvement of the commercial infrastructure, modernizing the models of distribution of goods and services, which according to the Strategy’s provisions, were planned to be carried out in 2017-2020. The Economics Ministry proposes that the second phase should be divided in two sub-phases, lasting two years each, 2017-2018 and, respectively, 2019-2020. The spending for the actions planned will be covered within the limit of the budget approved, as well as from external sources.
