Moldovan cabinet supports national cinematography

Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/ - A regulation on financing the cinematography, approved at a today’s cabinet meeting, is aimed at applying a fair and transparent system of access to public money meant for the cinematography.   

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the document establishes the way and conditions of distribution and use of financial resources to finance cinematographic projects, production and co-production, film festivals. Also, the Regulation provides for earmarking money for the promotion of the Moldovan cinematography internationally, by the participation of cinema men from Moldova in international film fairs and festivals, restoration and digitization of films and materials which are part of the cinematographic heritage.  

The financing of the cinematographic activity from the state budget is made through the National Cinematography Centre, based on selection of offers, which will be organized not less than once in a year and cannot exceed the quota of 50 per cent of the project’s list. The quantum of financing for each project will be established by the Centre’s Board, in descending order of the points provided to the project, within the limit of the means provided.    

To enforce the regulation, six million lei has been allocated for 2017. To turn the money to account, the Regulation establishes the period for submitting the files for the contest of the cinematographic projects of 15 days after the date of entrance into force of the decision approved by the cabinet today.
