Law on creation of Assets Recovery Agency to be published in Official Journal of Moldova

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/- The law on creation of the Assets Recovery Agency (ARBI) will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 19 May.
Under the document, ARBI will be an autonomous institution, subordinated to the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA). It will aim at recovering assets and funds from crimes, especially, corruption, money laundering and organized crime. At the same time, the criminal assets both on the territory of the country and abroad will be recovered.
Similarly, 3 per cent of the value of state-confiscated assets will be transferred annually to CNA budget. ARBI will comprise criminal officers, experts and specialists in the fields of accounting and auditing, special investigation officers etc. Initially it is envisaged that up to 30 people should operate at the agency.
The law was registered in the parliament on 28 November 2016. The document was initiated by a group of MPs from the parliamentary majority.
