Moldovan deputy premier participates in international conference on security environment

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan on 18 May participated in an international scientific conference titled, Strategic Security Environment: Challenges and Tendencies. The event was organized by the Centre for Strategic Studies of Defence and Security at the Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
Attending the action were representatives of the academic environment of Moldova and from abroad, experts from the security and international relations sectors, representatives of the diplomatic environment.
At the conference, Gheorghe Balan conveyed to the participants a greeting message, stressing the importance of organizing the conference on security subjects.
Referring to the present situation of the regional security environment, the deputy prime minister stressed the need to implement a considerable reform in the national defence and security sector, taking into account the latest developments in the districts from the left bank of Dniester, as well as the tension in eastern Ukraine. In this respect, Gheorghe Balan specified that a reformed army would ensure the stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova.
Also, the deputy prime minister said that the materials made public at the conference by experts from the security and international relations field would help work out a strategic vision of security for Moldova.
