Moldova-Romania intergovernmental commission for European integration held in Chisinau

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/- Issues on adjusting the national legislation to EU regulations, internal affairs, justice, integrity and anti-discrimination were discussed today at a meeting of the Moldova-Romania intergovernmental commission for European Integration.
On behalf of Moldova, co-head of the commission is Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Morari and from Romania – Minister Delegate for European Affairs of Romania Ana Birchall.
Deputy Minister Daniela Morari noted that the event focused on Prosecutor’s Office, training of magistrates, regional cooperation, agriculture, veterinary and food safety issues. “All the issues are key areas for Moldova’s transformation agenda. An important factor is the police reform and using cooperation platforms in justice. Also, we discussed Romania’s support for the necessary conditions for our country to turn to good account the possibilities of exporting live animals and products of animal origin to the EU market. Through the commission, we can take over the good practices of Romania. Therefore, thanks to Romanian partners for their support in advancing the European integration agenda”, Morari said.
Ana Birchall reconfirmed Romania’s support for Moldova’s European integration and reiterated the determination to provide assistance in promoting reforms and political support through messages and actions taken within the EU institutions. “We appreciate the efforts of the current government in Chisinau and we are enjoying the country’s economic growth. At the same time, today we set the continuation of the ongoing projects, as well as the focus on key priorities meant to back Moldova’s European integration”, the official said.
The next session of the Moldova-Romania intergovernmental commission for European integration is to be held in Bucharest in the second half of 2017.
