EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee convenes in Chisinau

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/- The fourth meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee will take place on 22 May in Chisinau, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Topics discussed by MEPs and MPs of Moldova will focus on the EU-Moldova cooperation, current stage of implementation of the Association Agreement, as well as the macro-financial assistance provided by the EU. MPs will also refer to reforms in the fields of justice, fighting corruption, public administration, electoral, respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, especially media freedom. An exchange of views on the situation in the banking system and cooperation with civil society in the implementation of reform agenda will be approached at the event.
At the conclusion of the debates, the members of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee will adopt the final declaration of the 4th meeting, which will comprise a string of recommendations to the Moldovan authorities and the European Commission. Co-chairs of the Parliamentary Association Committee Mihai Ghimpu and Andi Cristea will make statements to the press on 22 May starting from 18:00.
Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu will attend the event.
The delegation of the Moldovan parliament is made up of lawmakers Mihai Ghimpu, Igor Vremea, Iurie Leancă, Ion Balan, Oxana Domenti, Tudor Deliu, Victor Mîndru, George Mocanu, Sergiu Sîrbu, Andrei Neguța, Grigore Novac and Corneliu Padnevici.
The European Parliament’s delegation consists of MEPs - Andi Cristea, Andrzej Grzyb, Knut Fleckenstein, Miapetra Kumpula-Natri and Rebecca Harms.
The EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committe convenes twice a year, alternately in Brussels and Chisinau.
