Moldovan PM addresses congratulatory message on Day of Sportsman and Olympic Movement

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip on 20 May addressed a congratulatory message on the occasion of the Day of Sportsman and Olympic Movement, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The message reads:
‘’Dear sportspeople,
The Day of Sportsman and Olympic Movement is a good occasion to recall the history of the Olympic Movement, to express gratitude to the national sportspeople and all those who contributed to getting sports performances at national and international competitions.
This day brings to the country the Olympic values and the joy of the victories gained by effort.
At the same time, this is an opportunity to know the heroes of the national sport, to learn their experience, to discover new forms of sport and to urge the young generation to practice sport. The national sportspeople who are to participate in the Olympic Games, due in Tokyo in 2020, will benefit from the Moldovan government’s every support and we are confident in their success at the future competitions.
Your example, dear sportspeople, is quite valuable for us and it proves that we can have impressive results when we work in team.
I wish you perseverance, courage and certainly Olympic victories, so that the anthem of Moldova sounds on the sports arenas from all over the world as often as possible.
Dear coaches, physicians, journalists, managers of the sports field,
Thank you for the responsibility and dedication for the professional performance, maintaining and promotion of sport from Moldova. You are the ones who discover, develop, turn to account and promote the talent and sports values and the results Moldova has achieved represent an incontestable proof of your contribution to the formation of the country’s champions.
I address to those who admire sport at TV and computer; I want to say that sport does not mean only world records, but is also a possibility of self-development and maintaining the health.
Sport has power to gather, to change, to encourage; therefore, I urge to go in for sports and the values of the Olympic Movement, such as the excellence, respect, friendship, diversity and tolerance, may always accompany you.’’
