Second meeting of EU-Moldova Civil Society Platform inaugurated in Chisinau

Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Morari today participated in inauguration session of the second meeting of the EU-Moldova Civil Society Platform, an entity set up according to the provisions of the Association Agreement, as a forum for meetings and exchange of views between the exponents of the civil society in the country and the EU ones.
According to the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media relations service, the representatives of civil society proposed to consider the implementation of the Association Agreement in 2014-2016, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Component, and to work out a joint statement of civil society in response to the conclusions of the EU-Moldova Association Council of 31 March 2017.
Morari pointed out the priorities of Moldova’s European integration agenda, highlighted the role and contribution of the civil society in the efforts to implement the Association Agreement and urged the civil society representatives to become more involved in the process of implementing its provisions and to update the new national implementation plan of the agreement for 2017-2019, as well as to involve in partnerships to help promote the strategic communication dimension of the European integration process. Also, it was emphasized the importance of strengthening civil society capacities in providing expertise in the implementation of commitments stemming from the Association Agreement, especially, in complex and high-tech areas.
