Moldovan foreign ministry condemns attack in the United Kingdom

Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) informs about the occurring of blast nearby the stadium of Manchester (United Kingdom) by the end of a concert on 22 May evening. The British authorities informed about 19 people dead and approximately 50 injured, the MAEIE information and media communication service has reported.

The preliminary cause of the explosion is supposed to have been a suicide attack.

The Ministry and Embassy of Moldova in London are in touch with the UK authorities, in order to clear up whether there are Moldovan citizens among the casualties.

The citizens of Moldova in need of assistance, the persons who suppose that they had relatives, friends of acquaintances, who would have been in the area and might be among the victims, may appeal the Embassy of Moldova in London, by calling the emergency phone number +447895805306 and the numbers of the MAEIE Call Centre: 080090990, 022201047 from Moldova, and +37322788722, if the call is made from abroad.

At the same time, MAEIE condemns the cruel attack against human lives, expresses condolences to the families of the victims, quick recovery to the injured and support to the UK authorities in fighting the international terrorism.
