Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - The draft law on the mixed voting system will be subjected to public discussions in parliament. The spokesman for the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Vitalie Gamurari, made statements to this effect following a weekly working meeting of PDM today.

At a news conference, Vitalie Gamurari said that the participants in the meeting had discussed more topical subjects. “They discussed about the visit to the United States by PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc, meetings held with foreign officials, confirmation of the pro-western direction of Moldova, unveiling the progress made by our country and the process of implementing reforms, among which the one of the electoral system,” Gamurari said.

At the same time, according to the Democrats’ spokesman, the participants in the meeting “analyzed the results of the election of mayors from seven settlements of the country, where PDM won in the first round of the polls and the Democrats’ candidate got into the runoff in another settlement.”

Also, Gamurari noted that PDM returned to the initiative of limiting the foreign propaganda in Moldova’s TV channels. “PDM delimited the issue of propaganda from the draft law on audiovisual; yet, these matters are discussed in detail at the meetings of PDM lawmakers and ministers with colleagues from the European Union,” Gamurari said.

Also today, the Democratic Party’s spokesman informed that the PDM weekly meetings would take place on Tuesdays, as “the MPs and ministers on Mondays have meetings with citizens in areas.”
