Moldovan capital vice mayor’s arrest warrant prolonged for 30 days

Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ – The magistrates of Chisinau Court, Buiucani sector extended the mandate of home arrest for another 30 days for the deputy mayor of Chisinau, Nistor Grozavu.
The decision was taken at the request of prosecutors.
Nistor Grozavu was detained in late April by officers of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA), suspected of overcoming his work duties in a corruption case aimed at selecting companies to deal with the provision of paid parking facilities in Chisinau.
The head of the Department of Urban Transport and Communication and a former municipal councilor were detained in the same case. Also, the administrators of three parking companies were detained. Similarly, four other persons were heard and are investigated in a state of freedom.
The detained persons are liable to punishments of up to 10 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or to practice certain activities for a period of 10 to 15 years if they are found guilty.
