Moldovan PM says Moldova can make extraordinary progress with clear-cut direction, serious work

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip unveiled a report on the implementation of the government’s action programme for 2016 in parliament today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In the beginning of his speech, the PM highlighted the good cooperation of the government with the parliament, majority coalition, development partners, as well as with the civil society organizations, and thanked for the assistance received. “Beyond politics, polemic, statements, our interest should be common, no matter the parties we are members of, the one of modernizing the country and improving the people’s living standards. This I would like to be everybody’s country project, even if we fight to achieve it in different ways,” Pavel Filip said.
The prime minister reiterated that the government’s action programme had at its basis the enforcement of the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement, which remains Moldova’s country plan.
The PM also referred to measures of fighting corruption and improving the work of the justice. He emphasized the approval of more legislative acts, which allowed enhancing the efficiency of the prosecution bodies, as well as the creation of the National Integrity Authority and the setting up of two prosecutor’s offices specialized in the anticorruption sector, and, respectively, to fight the organized crime. Pavel Filip stressed that namely the progress made on this segment had been prompted by the regaining of the trust of the development partners. He noted that the signing of the Agreement with the International Monetary Fund was an important success of Moldova on the external stage.
As for the social policies field, the prime minister emphasized starting the implementation of the pensions reform, working out the concept of reform of the system of determining disability, backing the gender equality, enhanced protection of the domestic violence victims, cutting the prices for medicines. “Beyond figures, calculations and strategies, the people and their living are important. Namely they were permanently in the focus of our attention, as before the coming of this government, there was a quite worrying prospect for our state to enter a default, impossibility to fulfill the obligations before the citizens,” the prime minister said.
As for the situation in the economy, the PM specified that the economic growth of four per cent had been recorded in 2016, along with the increase in exports, rise in the production in the agricultural sector, resulted from the actions carried out by the cabinet. In this respect, Filip stressed the cut in the number of permissive acts, improvement of the legal framework regulating the state controls, simplification of the trade activity, diversification of the financing instruments in favour of small- and medium-sized enterprises, introduction of the single tax of seven per cent for the residents of IT marks, as well as the reformation of the State Tax Service. “These facts provided to the business environment, both to the local and the foreign capital, first of all, confidence that it can develop without obstacles, confidence that it has serious partners in the state institutions,” Pavel Filip said.
Not in the least, Prime Minister Pavel Filip presented the stages of the public administration reform, noting the aspects of the government’s reform. “The reform of the central administration, as well as of the local one is essential this year,” Pavel Filip said.
The PM also touched upon the concerns of strengthening Moldova’s security and defence; in this respect, he highlighted the communication with the NATO, investments in training servicemen, improving the legal framework in the defence sector and cooperation with EU in terms of Common Security and Defence Policies. Also, special attention was paid to the goals of strengthening the state and its reintegration.
In the end of unveiling the report, the PM appreciated the effort of the entire governmental team and thanked all colleagues for the work carried out. “What we did in 2016 shows, in fact, the potential of Moldova as country. In conditions of political and social stability, having a clear-cut direction forward, by working seriously, Moldova can make extraordinary progress,” Pavel Filip added.
