Chisinau deputy mayor released from home arrest

Chisinau, 30 May /MOLDPRES/ – The deputy mayor of Chisinau, Nistor Grozavu, was released from home arrest and will be investigated under judicial control. This is the current decision taken by the Court of Appeal’s magistrates.
The information was confirmed for the Agency by the Court of Appeal’s spokesman, Octeabrina Popa.
Nistor Grozavu was detained in the late April by the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) officers, suspected of overcoming his job duties in a corruption case aimed at selecting companies to deal with the provision of paid parking facilities in the capital.
In similar case, the head of the Department of Urban Transport and Communications and a former municipal councilor were detained. Also, the administrators of three parking companies were detained. At the same time, four other people were heard and are investigated in a state of freedom.
If they are found guilty, detained persons are liable to punishments of up to 10 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or practice certain activities for 10 – 15 years.
