EU supports Moldovan government's agenda of reforms

Chisinau, 30 May /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip met with Lawrence Meredith, Director at Neighbourhood, Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement. Negotiations of the European Commission today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The parties had an exchange of views on the Government's priorities and reform agenda, in line with the key areas established for the Single Assistance Framework for 2014-2017. In this context, the PM thanked for the considerable support given by EU to Moldova in implementing the priority reforms on the European integration agenda and directly in the Association Agreement. "We appreciate the fact that we are supported by this EU reform process and we are counting on the continuation of this good cooperation, including through bilateral assistance programs," said Pavel Filip.
Related to it, the Prime Minister communicated to the European Delegation on the reform of public administration, being at the top of the reforms’ list. "The government is firmly committed to implementing the reform agenda. All the restructurings are interconnected, that is why I started from the priority reforms: the reform of the pension system follows the reform of the public administration. For building a house, we need a solid foundation, so we first of all want to strengthen institutional capacities," said the premier.
Pavel Filip also expressed his confidence that the new Single Assistance Framework would continue to contribute to political association and economic integration with EU in the Eastern Partnership initiative. This bilateral assistance package to Moldova will set the strategic objectives and priorities for future EU-Moldova cooperation.
At his part, the European official welcomed the government’s determination to promote and implement the absolutely necessary reforms for Moldova, mentioning the need to ensure a clear impact of the projects on the quality of citizens' lives.
