Moldovan PM to visit Belarus

Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/- The prospects for the development of the Moldovan-Belarusian partnership and the new bilateral cooperation initiatives were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Ambassador of Belarus to Moldova Sergey Ciciuk, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The premier noted that Belarus was a traditional partner of the country, and the bilateral dialogue was open and constructive. Thus, in 2016, talks were held with President of Belarus Alexandr Lukashenko and Belarusian Prime Minister Andrey Kobeacov. In late 2016, a meeting of the Moldovan-Belarusian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation took place.
“We must continue the initiatives, including those on economic cooperation and intensification of bilateral trade exchanges. We have positive development in this respect, during the first three months of 2017 the trade exchanges increased significantly. We have to further explore existing possibilities”, Filip said.
The officials also exchanged opinions about the official visit by the premier to Belarus on 6-7 June 2017. In the context, he voiced confidence that the meetings with officials in Minsk, as well as events organized during this period, including the businessmen’s forum and Days of Culture of Moldova in Belarus will contribute to deepening the bilateral partnership.
