Romanian emergency crew commemorated in southern district of Moldova

Chisinau, 04 June /MOLDPRES/ – A Memorial Complex dedicated to the Romanian SMURD crew, fallen on a mission in 2016, on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, was inaugurated near the village Haragis, Cantemir district today.
The event started with a divine service, followed by a festive ceremony attended by officials from Moldova, Romania, local authorities, representatives of diplomatic missions and others.
The monument was erected at the initiative of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service (SPCSE) and symbolizes a tribute to those who intervene to save lives, showing courage, devotion and sacrifice. The complex consists of an improvised take-off runway and an alley that leads to the commemorative plate.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (MTIC) developed a postage stamp, launched on 04 June 2017. The stamp represents portraits of crew members against a background of a SMURD helicopter and will be put into circulation by the post office in village Haragis. The circulation of the stamp is 100 thousand copies with nominal value – MDL 09.50.
The tragic aviation accident occurred on 02 June 2016, near village Haragıs, Cantemir district. Being on duty, the SMURD helicopter from Iasi collapsed, and four crew mwmbers died. In October 2016, the SPCSE made the decision to build a memorial complex on site of the accident, for which could contribute financially all who wanted.
