Chisinau, 04 June /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip convened an operative meeting with the participation of decision-makers to identify waste disposal solutions in Chisinau today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
the deputy mayor of Chisinau, Nistor Grozavu, said that the difficult situation arose on 02 June 2017, after tens of Bubuieci residents blocked the access of the trucks "Autosalubritate" to the locality rubbish dump. In March, residents of Bubuieci were assured by local authorities that they would find another place to evacuate the wastes in 45 days, but the promise has not been respected.
The Prime Minister outlined that each authority had to assume its responsibilities and fulfill them. "People protest because they have been disappointed. Why promises were made if they could not be achieved? The authorities had to come up with rational, viable proposals with clear deadlines to be observed," said the Prime Minister. Pavel Filip also emphasized that the waste problem had to be solved. "We do not just conclude that waste should be stored. There are technologies, investments needed to be made, the necessary infrastructure for waste recycling created," said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Similarly, Prime Minister Pavel Filip ordered the creation of a working group to thoroughly analyze the situation and to come up with rational proposals as soon as possible with concrete solutions and conditions in which they can be done in a fast mode. The working group includes representatives of Chisinau City Hall, Bubuieci City Hall, I.M. "Autosalubritate", as well as central public authorities: representatives of the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Also, the members of the working group will have discussions with the inhabitants of Bubuieci village in order to find a solution that would solve the problems addressed, as well as ensure the sanitation of Chisinau.
Additionally, the Premier ordered the revision of the National Waste Management Strategy for 2013-2027 and the Implementation Plan of it. "We need to develop a clear vision on waste management in the Republic of Moldova, but also on the actions that have been or are to be undertaken in the near future," concluded Pavel Filip.
