Moldovan speaker on official visit to Switzerland

Chisinau, 6 June /MOLDPRES/- Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu pays an official visit to the Swiss Confederation on 6-8 June. He is accompanied by MPs Sergiu Sîrbu and Artur Reșetnicov, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

Among the issues due to be approached are development of bilateral cooperation projects in security, economy and legislation. The topics of discussion will be focused on the reforms initiated by the Moldovan authorities, including the government, as well as security issues in the context of the regional conjuncture and the status of neutrality.

The parliamentary delegation will have meetings with Switzerland’s National Council President Jurg Stahl and Swiss Council of States President Ivo Bischofberger. The agenda includes a meeting with head of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Ambassador Manuel Sager and Director of the Swiss Federal Police Office Nicoletta Della Valle.

The Federal Assembly (Parliament) of the Swiss Confederation consists of two chambers: the National Council with 200 members and the Council of States made up of 46 members representing the cantons of Switzerland. The Federal Assembly is composed of political groups or factions that include members of the same party or parties that have similar political platforms.
