Chisinau, 6 June /MOLDPRES/- Moldova resumed purchases of electricity from the Kuchurgan Power Plant on 5 June, which regained the right to provide about 70 per cent of electricity supplies. Another 30 per cent of the needs will be covered by imports from Ukraine.
According to a press release by the Energocom company, after signing the contract with DTEK Trading (Ukraine) by late March 2017, the Kuchurgan plant “presented a new offer at a better price compared to the initial bid, respectively down by about 10 per cent than the current price”.
“Given these new conditions, due to which Moldova could benefit from a lower price for the purchased electricity, as well as given the desire to secure electricity supply as much as possible, additional negotiations with both providers were held and decided to conclude an electricity supply contract with the Kuchurgan Power Plant, which came into force on 5 June 2017,” the communiqué also reads.
Both contracts are valid until 31 March 2018 and guarantee the full electricity supply. The contract with the administration of the Transnistrian region’s power plant was signed on 4 June. Neither in this case, nor when signing the agreement with the Ukrainian company, the purchase price was announced.
Recently, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry in Ukraine estimated that in the second half of 2017 will reduce three times the electricity supplies to Moldova.
