Moldovan PM offers spiritual present to National Library of Belarus

Chisinau, 7 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today offered a copy of an old book printed by a Belarusian citizen to the National Library of Belarus. The book is a Gospel printed in 1636, due to Mikhail Slezka. The book was found in the archive of the National Library of Moldova and was restored, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
At the same time, the PM visited the museum of books at the headquarters of the library, where manuscripts, collections of works and copies of valuable books for the world literature are displayed. Also, the prime minister went to library’s reading rooms, where he was informed about the new technologies implemented to improve and modernize the library services. In this respect, special importance is paid to digitalizing the processes of seeking and delivery to the reader of books demanded, with virtual rooms opened all over the country. The access to international information sources is facilitated in this way as well.
The library has 20 reading rooms for 2,000 persons, conference halls and multi-functional spaces, where exhibitions and cultural events are held. Ten million of books are in the fund of the National Library of Belarus.
