Advertising for alcoholic drinks to be limited in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers, at a today’s meeting, approved a draft law on the amendment and completion of legislative acts from the alcohol control sector. The draft provides for the introduction of restrictions on advertising for alcoholic beverages, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Among the main provisions of the document, there are the banning of issuance of messages dealing with the advertising and promotion of alcoholic production in the education and medical and sanitary institutions. At the same time, any form of advertising or teleshopping for the alcoholic production is banned for minors, as well as the one involving the latter.
Also, any form of advertising of the alcoholic production is prohibited, including through sources of radio and TV, written press, Internet, phone, telegraph networks, cinematographic and video services, inside or on public transport means and on post shipments.
The draft also sees a string of exceptions, among which the advertising of alcoholic production via radio and TV sources between 22:00 and 7:00. This advertising will be allowed also in the public areas established by the local public administration authorities for the period of holding national and traditional holidays, specialized events in the sector of fabrication and circulation of alcoholic production.
The draft’s goal is to improve the health indexes of the residents, especially of the young generation.
