Moldovan government approves action plan on implementation of national strategy of regional development for 2016-2020

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - More than seven billion lei will be invested in the carrying out of an action plan for the implementation of the national strategy of regional development for 2016-2020, approved by the cabinet today.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the plan was worked out based on three specific goals: ensured access to quality services and public utilities; ensured sustainable economic growth in regions and improved governance in the regional development sector. By implementing them, the government is set to ensure a balanced and sustainable development in all development regions of Moldova.
The actions provided for in the plan regard the development of infrastructure of regional and local importance, principles of regionalization of public services in the field of management solid waste and supply with water and sewerage, conceptualization of the network of urban centres. Increased attention is paid to strengthening and developing the regional economy, tourist infrastructure in development regions, as well as to consolidation of the institutional framework and administrative potential. Also, the plan includes actions to optimize the system of monitoring and assessing the implementation of the national strategy of regional development for 2016-2020.
Thus, a great deal of the budget will be directed to develop the infrastructure of regional and local roads – 1.945 billion lei and to enhance the energy efficiency of public buildings – 469.1 million lei.
Another priority sector regards the tourism. As much as 146.7 million lei is meant for implementing projects on development of tourism services. At the same time, 109.72 million lei will be used for the development, modernization and/or creation of infrastructure for managing solid waste.
The plan’s actions will be financed at the expense and within the limit of the financial means annually approved in the national public budget, as well as from other sources, under the legislation.
