Moldovan cabinet approves 7.3-billion-lei-worth plan for regional development

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers, at a today’s meeting, approved an action plan on the implementation of the national strategy of regional development for 2016-2020. The costs for carrying out this plan are estimated at 7 billion 357.65 million lei.

Three major goals are to be achieved till 2020 and namely: ensured access to quality services and public utilities; ensured sustainable economic growth in regions and improved governance in the regional development sector. This is practically a programme for developing the districts of Moldova and reducing discrepancies in regions’ development.

According to the Regional Development and Constructions Ministry, the working out of the action plan is dictated by the need to turn the strategy into an easily applicable instrument, with a clear-cut planning of actions, as well as of identifying financial sources which should be planned and attracted to this end. The plan includes measures for developing the infrastructure of regional importance, regionalization of public services, strengthening and development of the regional economy, etc.
