Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/ – The Government approved today a draft law providing for the grant of maternity allowance to wife dependent on the employed husband if she does not work on the date of maternity leave and does not earn a living income. The fact can be confirmed by the work card and written declaration on own responsibility not being the person insured by respective risk, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The approved bill provides for the amendment and completion of Article 16 (5) of the Law on Allowances for temporary work incapacity and other social insurance benefits declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court. It provided the wife to be dependent on the employed husband if, during 9 consecutive months preceding the month of granting the maternity leave, she had not been engaged and compulsorily insured or lost her status as insured during that period.
Maternity allowance is granted for loss of work capacity. Both the person who did not contribute to the public social insurance system and the person who contributed in part lost working capacity and is actually in the employed husband’s care.
There are needed over MDL 182 million to implement this project for 2017.
